Founder, Executive Creative Director
Among the infinite number of ways to solve any given design problem, Michael’s finely honed, intuitive eye will almost always land on the most elegant answer.
Michael’s design career began at places like Pentagram and Cronan Design, shifted over to creative direction for the web right when the Internet was catching hold, and eventually led him to advertising. Now his focus is experience design—a seamless integration of all three disciplines.
Among the infinite number of ways to solve any given design problem, Michael’s finely honed, intuitive eye will almost always land on the most elegant answer. Michael is also one of Eleven’s founders. It takes a special sort of person to make a leap of faith and start something new—it’s risky and requires patience, dedication, and a good measure of curiosity. Michael is all of those things, including down to earth—and these qualities underlie the very structure of this place.
They also help explain why he often leads unusual creative collaborations within the agency. He’s worked on brands such as Apple, Virgin America, Levi’s, Disney, and One Laptop Per Child, to name a few—and the list of awards his work has been honored with is outstanding. He also sits on the boards of Public Architecture and WaterHope and is a longtime veteran of the TED Conference.
